View (DJ Naoyaman)

Here is a band that kept a No. 46 song in the opening slot of its live show for nine years.

In the summer of 2015, "Go" stopped at No. 46 on the UK chart. In 2017 it became the opener of their live set. At Fuji Rock in 2019, it was the first song of their headline show at Naeba too.

An opener has a job: to change the air in the room. As a DJ, I think what you put first decides half the night. It is a different yardstick from the chart.

I would like to call this the opener deposit. Something put away a little at a time, first thing every night, and one day withdrawn all at once.

In 2026, Taron Egerton danced to it in Netflix's Apex, the scene went round social media, and the song hit No. 1 on Shazam worldwide and No. 4 in the UK. Their first top ten since "Galvanize".

It was Egerton himself who chose the song. In a letter to the band and Q-Tip, he wrote that he had loved their music since his early teens.

Where nine years of openers had been piling up, and in whose ears, is the part that never makes the chart.
