View (DJ Naoyaman)

The album that dropped off the UK chart because it came with a chance to win an iPad.

Released on 14 June 2010, every one of its eight tracks has a film by Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall, starring Romola Garai.35

Every format included an entry to a competition to win an iPad. UK chart rules forbid prizes as enticements to buy, so the album was excluded.3 Elsewhere it charted widely, peaking at No. 5 in Switzerland.4

Pitchfork gave it 8.0 out of 10. We Are the Night, three years earlier, had got 3.8.38 It was nominated for the Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album.5

I call it the classic off the chart. Only the chart record has a hole in it.

The bonus track "Don't Think" was used in the film Black Swan that same year.3 The concert film shot at Fuji Rock the following year was called Don't Think too.9
