“big on bombast, replete with screeching guitar samples and lots of sirens and screaming divas”

View (DJ Naoyaman)

The "Dust" in the title is the name they left behind.

Recorded between August 1993 and November 1994 and released on 26 June 1995, their debut album takes its title from the change of name from the Dust Brothers. It reached No. 9 in the UK.53

Of its eleven tracks, only two, both near the end, have guest singers: Tim Burgess on "Life Is Sweet", and Beth Orton on the closing "Alive Alone".894

As a DJ, I always hesitate over where to put the songs with vocals. Early on, they widen the way in; late, they become a reward for those who have stayed. I take this running order as the second kind.

There was a time when the two ran a club night with Heavenly in the basement of the Albany, a pub in London. It lasted just over three months.10

In 2025, the official site celebrated the album's thirtieth anniversary.11 Three months of nights; thirty years of a record.
